"What greater thing" wedding/love card

Hello Crafty Friends!

Last weekend my brother-in-law and his fiancee were in town for a visit.  He proposed to the wonderful woman earlier this year and they will soon be married.  I am so happy for them!  They are a perfect pair and so much in love.  It is great when fate brings two people together.  :)

The happy couple inspired this love/wedding card using Quietfire Design's "What greater thing is there" stamp set:
What Greater Thing is There & Heart Flourish, Set of 2 - Mounted

It was stamped onto ivory card stock and die cut using Spellbinders' Opulent Ovals dies.  The blue and patterned paper is from Graphic 45's Botanical Tea collection.

Behind the die cut sentiment/ovals is a die cut set of Becca Feeken's Graceful Floral Lace (Spellbinders).
An elegant ivory bow and three wee flowers finished the card.  The sentiment is just gorgeous and I think any newly engaged or wed couple will love it!

Talking about love...you will love the newly released stamps from Quietfire Design!  Click here to drool over see them.

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy, crafty day!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

May 2017 New Stamps!

Welcome to the May 2017 Quietfire rubber stamp release. There are eight new stamp sets to play with! (Wow, 8!!)
Where to start….?
I absolutely love sayings with double meanings.  I guess that’s why the two music stamps are my favourite!  The Music in my Heart sentiment was sent to me by Karen S (I’ll be sending you a complimentary stamp Karen!)  and is such a beautiful sentiment.  It’s perfect for a sympathy card.  Let me know what you'd use it for!

The Music in my Heart

The other music stamp saying is from Design Team member Connie Nichol.  Whether you’re talking about music or comfortable companionship with a friend, Moments of Silence applies.

Moments of Silence

The Leafy Acanthus Background is from an illustration I did years ago in the William Morris style.  Use it with a light coloured stamp ink for a subtle effect.  I think the quiet floral background combines beautifully with the “stillness” of the The Greatest Revelation.  Makes you pause and think.

The Greatest Revelation

Thanks to a big nudge from Cheryl A., the Queen of Everything, which was sold out, has been resurrected. It’s a bit different, but the sentiment is still as strong as ever!  Cheryl, I’ll be sending you a complimentary set.

Queen of Everything

This new Modern Calligraphy style works well with whimsical sayings, so here is a really fun set of stamps.  If you have the Wishing You A die set, then you can combine it with Wishing You Whimsy perfectly!

Wishing You Whimsy

And last but not least, for those who like to doodle and colour there are two new sets of Fill 'er Up Caps:  DAD and MUM
Both these sets only have two letters, as one is repeated.  If you already have our JOY or LOVE set, then it's easy to make MOM
This brings our total of Fill 'er Up Letters to 11....  ADEJLMOUVY and T is part of the Thanks - Fill 'er Up set.  If you're feeling adventurous, flip the M upside-down for W and the U upside-down for N!  That takes us to 13 letters - half way there! Give it some time and we'll have the whole alphabet!

DAD

MUM

And that's it for now! Have fun and happy creating!
Suzanne

Card display base is
Walnut Hollow Basswood Country Round, Small

Congrats to you...

Hi and welcome to our Quietfire Design blog today.  It's Teresa here to share a quick card that i created with a few things i had in my stash and one of the Elizabeth Craft Dies from Quietfire.

To begin to make this card i used my Cricut to cut an ivory circle about 6 inches and also to created the scalloped border in green that goes around it. I glued the 2 together and then I added a tiny floral print across the front.  Then cut a double cut piece of the Congrats die in ivory to match the base of the card.  The tiny dots around the outside are done just from using a dark brown ink pen.  Sometimes it's nice to add simple things so that it's not so boring around the edges.  And then to finish i added some bits of ribbon and twine to make a bow and a pretty flower on top to match.  It took all of about 20 mins. to make and now i have a pretty card to give a friend for her graduation this week.

Here is a link for the Congrats die just in case you need it :)
and another link to see all the gorgeous "Way With Words Dies" just in case you need a few of those!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure and stop by next week for our big
reveal of the new stamps for May!!

"Live Laugh Love" upcycled wall art

Hello Crafty Friends!  Kathy Jo here sharing an upcycled wall hanging using Quietfire Designs' Live, Laugh and Love dies.  Upcycling an unused or tired item is fun to do, is a great way to explore your creativity and is a perfect excuse to use your favorite Quietfire Design dies.

For the project, I took an unused wall hanging that had three faux wood pieces assembled side by side.  After cleaning the item, I applied black Gesso and then several layers of black paint.
Next, I die cut each die in ivory card stock and then light pink card stock.  The die cuts were adhered- slightly offset- using liquid glue.
Several ivory and pink flowers were adhered as shown.  Stickles (Frosted Lace) was applied to each flower center.
The wall art was a flash to put together and brought new life to an old item.  Admittedly, I am happy with my "new" wall art!  The calligraphy and the words are so beautiful and uplifting.  Seeing it makes me smile.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed the upcycled project.  Have a happy, crafty day!
Hugs,

There Are Two Things We Can Give Our Children

Hello!!  It's Wanda here today.  I hope you are doing well!!

2.  Stencil leaves with Mowed Lawn, dry.

4.  Wrap panel with meshy ribbon.  Layer onto cream panel and then to folded green card.

Special Memories Scrapbook Layout

Hello, Connie Nichol here today  Sometimes you just have one special photo that you would like to showcase on a scrapbook page.  I've been storing this particular picture since 2008.  We took a family holiday to an all inclusive resort in Mexico that year, and every day, two people would walk the grounds with a camera and an exotic animal of some sort.  They would take your picture with that animal, and then you had the option of buying the picture later.  Well, we bought this one because we thought it was cute and I finally got around to scrapbooking it 9 years later.  Time certainly flies!

The Way with Words dies 'Special' and "Memories' make a perfect page title for a one of a kind photo.  Here's Memories, it's packaged by itself.
I took the word 'Special' from the Special Moments set.

I used patterned paper from Bo Bunny Faith collection - the colours are bright and beautiful.  I added some texture to the background by stamping with a potato masher and white paint, and a corn on the cob and yellow paint.  The effect is subtle but kind of cool.  Household supplies sometimes make the best stamps!   The paint dried quickly, and then I added the photo and a couple of bright butterflies cut with another Elizabeth Craft Designs die set.

A little bit of washi tape and some journaling and done!  Happy Scrapbooking!

What Greater Thing is There

Hello!  I'm not a huge washi tape person - except to use them to hold my dies in place when I run them through the Big Shot - but I got this pink roll with swirls of gold in them and I really wanted to use them.  This new stamp from Quietfire Design was also just begging to be inked.  Hence the gold embossing!  I love gold embossing - and there's something about Suzanne's lettering that demands elegance.

I gold embossed on vellum and there is a lavender color wash behind it - just hard to capture - and then I adhered the vellum using the gold threaded washi tape.  I added some Wild Orchid Flowers and green beads to finish my card.

Thanks for looking!

Your friendship means so much

I think one of my most favorite stamps to have on hand and to make up is a card for a friend. Quietfire Design has so many gorgeous ones and sometimes it's really hard to pick a favorite but todays card is really special.

I love this stamp because it has the most gorgeous swirls and curls and really does the sentiment justice.  I chose a soft palette of aqua and pale ivory cardstock to make my card and layered it using a Becca Feeken die that i had in my stash.  To add a little more depth i inked the die with a little bit of aqua ink to make parts in the designs pop more and slightly offset it when i glued it together to frame it.  This gave it a gentle framing around the center and didn't make the ivory so bright.  It just blends more.

And here is a quick closeup of the sentiment... isn't it gorgeous!  And here is the stamp in case you need to place a quick order!

Supply List:

Aqua and ivory cardstock
Cascading Grace Die by Becca Feeken
Ivory seam tape ribbon
Studio G ink in dark aqua
Paper trimmer, scissors, adhesives

Have a really fun and creative week and see you back soon!!

Teresa
