We have new stamps! Being Thankful!

Art by Wanda Hentges - you can read how she made this on her blog!
It's always kind of a relief for me when there are new stamps! It's a long, sometimes bumpy, road from the drafting table to the completed stamp!  We have four new stamp sets for your creative enjoyment.  Here they are with links to our website and some spectacular sample projects from our Design Team to jump start you.

Give Thanks

Since Canadian Thanksgiving is coming up fast, we wanted to get started now.

Many of the phrases in these sets were inspired by the words of Chris Wallace of Walnut Hollow. I am honoured that she enjoys my designs and the Quietfire Design Team looks forward to our upcoming blog hop with Walnut Hollow about four weeks from now. Can you imagine what we'll be creating?!  It's exciting!

Not all our designers have even received their stamps yet, so we're in for some real treats over the next few weeks!  You may simply follow the links below each of the stamp sets to obtain more information on individual sets.  All set come mounted with foam and cling.  We hope you like them!

You may see the instructions for this card on Suzanne's blog here.

THE WOODS WOULD BE VERY SILENT- CARD

Hi Everyone! Holly here today and I have a card for you that uses one of my favourite stamp sets-   THE WOODS WOULD BE VERY SILENT
Using some papers from KAISERCRAFT THESE DAYS PAPER PACK  I stamped  the sentiments  with Jet Black ARCHIVAL INK, then sponged Rusty Hinge and Peeled Paint  DISTRESS INK around the edges, and to colour the swirls peeking out.
The cute little bird was stamped on white cardstock, then cut out with scissors.

A few pearls were added to complete the card.

I love the look of this stamp set and the positive message it sends.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Quietfire Stamps and Little Black Dress

Little Black Dress Paper Pad

Hello All!  Kathy Jo here today to share some cards I made using beautiful Quietfire stamps and also Basic Grey's Little Black Dress paper, available at Quietfire.

The first card is a wedding card I made for a friend of ours that was just married over the weekend.  The sentiment could not be any sweeter and it was perfect for a wedding.  I love how this sentiment will work well not only for a wedding card but also for an anniversary card, Valentine's Day card and a wedding album.  The sentiment is part of the 8 piece Valentine's Day/Love set.

Valentine's Day/Love, set of 8 stamps

The next card is a Thank You card made for my stash. It uses the script thank you from the Thank You 4 piece stamp set.

The stamp set has been used several times as I love the versatility of the set.  The set is shown below (don't you just adore the wee hearts in the thanks!):

Thank You, set of 4

The final card is a Christmas card.  Yes, I am sticking with my New Year's resolution to make at least one Christmas card a month.  (I am now at about a card every other week!)  The antiqued Little Black Dress paper worked well with the Snowflakes are kisses from heaven stamp.

The stamp fits like a glove in the Spellbinders dies. Woo-who!  The stamp sentiment is definitely the focal point of the card...and what a great sentiment at that!

Snowflakes are Kisses

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed seeing the cards made using Quietfire and Little Black Dress.  I still have plenty of paper left in the pack and I will make sure to share future projects using it.

Have a great day! Hugs, Kathy Jo

Simple, Bright and Cheery Birthday card

Hello Crafters! Kathy Jo here to share a quick birthday card I made using one of my favorite Quietfire stamp sets: Happy Birthday Plain and Simple.  It is a great set consisting of the seven stamps shown below:

Happy Birthday Plain & Simple - Set of 7 Stamps

The tent card base was made from ivory card stock. The stack layer from the bottom up: a fun layer of Kaisercraft’s Bubblegum Hills paper, green burlap, pink die cut (Spellbinders Labels Nine paper from Bubblegum Hills) dry embossed (Sizzix), and ivory paper die cut (Spellbinders In'spire Bicycle).
Happy Birthday was stamped in black archival ink onto a label from the Bubblegum Hills pad.
A bow and some bling and the card was complete. Super easy and super happy!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!
Hugs, Kathy Jo

Ornate Frame - I Will Honour Christmas

Yogi here today with a Christmas card... Click on any card image to enlarge. Enjoy.

I love this Ornate Frame from Sizzix... and thought it would make a nice Xmas plaque type card. And even though it has a relatively large bow, it does lay pretty flat  so postage should be normal... BIG GRIN

Side folded my white card (5"w x 7"h). Used Tim's "Striped" layered stencil and Distress pads ("Worn Lipstick" & "Festive Berry") using a sponge to apply, then clear embossed. Lifted the stencil and moved it over to continue with the pattern.

The frame (Sizzix "Ornate Frame") was cut from white cardstock (keep the drop out piece). Distress pad direct to paper with "Scattered Straw", then hit here and there with Distress mini pads "Crushed Olive" & "Mowed Lawn", then direct to paper with "Worn Lipstick", clear embossed, then smeared "Black Soot" all over and clear embossed again. Adhered to card front. Love the look of all these mingled colors...

Stamped the quote (I Will Honour...) onto the drop out piece using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Used a dirty red sponge to color the edges, then adhered into frame.

Tied a 5 loop peg bow using Sari Ribbon ("Marmalade") and adhered to top of frame using a glue gun. PS I ironed the ribbon on a low setting first to get it nice and flat...

On the inside, stamped the sentiment (Merry Christmas Sentiments) with the Onyx, clear embossed, stamped again on some tracing paper to make a mask which I cut about an 1/8" larger than the calligraphy.
Sponged some Festive Berry and then some Aged Mahogany using the Stripes stencil.

Expect the Unexpected!

I love the Quietfire Design Team!  They never fail to impress me, not only with the variety of their designs but sometimes by using Quietfire stamps in ways I never would have imagined.....

Flourishing Inside - Hearts

Such as using the Flourishing Inside - Hearts as flowers and leaves!  Wanda started this back in 2010 with a whole series which includes a box top and a series of cards.

Holly had the same idea, but done a little differently!

Gingko Leaves

You'll remember recently Holly took the Gingko Leaves stamp and converted it into a flower.

Artwork by Holly Eastabrook.  See the details here.

And here she has taken Flourishes 1 and it has become the stem of a flower!

Robyn used the Ornamental Heart from Valentine's Day/Love to create a lovely flower.

Flourished Noel set

And here she cleverly used our Ornamental Christmas Tree from the Flourished Noel set to create a star.

And then you can always turn it a stamp into a sweet teeny tiny charm as Yogi did here! Some of the quote is on the charm and the rest is inside the card full size.

Wicked!

Good morning!  Sherry here today and I have a Halloween card to share.  I’ve seen a number of Christmas cards being posted and I did think about it . . . but Halloween prevailed!

WickedFront

I found the background paper today while I was out running errands and was quite taken with the colors.  I love purple and black together for Halloween and it isn’t often that I see that color combination in a paper pad . . . so it just fell into my cart!    I used the Quietfire set, Crows, for the main image.

WickedFrontCloseUP

The flourished crow was stamped with VersaMark, embossed with a sparkly black embossing powder, and then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Circles.  The bottom layer for the circle image was die cut/embossed using Spellbinders Stately Circles.  I love how the shapes in the circle match the background paper.

WickedInside

For the inside of the card I decided to use some of the scraps left over from the front, along with the Quietfire Digital Cutting File, Wicked.  Once I had “wicked” placed on the inside of the card, I decided it needed a little pop and outlined the word in black marker.  Wish I had thought to add a little pizzaz before putting in on the card.  Lesson learned!
